We are
Mossy Press.
Mossy Press is a vibrant collaborative risograph and printmaking studio originating from the mountains of Western North Carolina, co-founded by Madi Cole and Juliana Maurer. Born out of more than eight years of artistic collaboration, Mossy Press embodies a spirit of playful exploration, tactile richness, and creative dialogue. Our ethos centers on the belief that art should not only connect artists but also cultivate connections between viewers and their broader community. Exploring themes such as home, queerness, chosen family, environment, and place-making in Appalachia, Mossy Press publications reflect our love for our community, our craft, and each other.
Launched Summer 2024.
about us
Madi has interest in themes of sense of place, the natural environment, and storytelling. Through a combination of digital and analog mediums her practice is deeply rooted in exploring connection and identity through placemaking and traditional craft practices // madicole.com
Juliana focuses on using traditional and digital media to explore the role of art in social activism and community building. This process is facilitated through an exploration of personal experience, research on contemporary and historical social movements, and perhaps most importantly, dialogue with fellow community members. Their practice is particularly focused on mutual aid, community organizing, and abolitionist praxis // julianamaurer.com
